RANDON TO LAUNCH KEY CHARITY DRIVE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ME&DEE
Michelin Clio Cup Race Series front-runner Sam Randon is teaming-up with Greenbank Group, his headline sponsor, to launch a fantastic charity drive during the build-up to the start of the 2015 season, an initiative which aims to raise around £12,000 for inspirational charity Me&Dee.
Founded by Maria Hanson, who was recently awarded the MBE and won the Pride of Britain East Midlands award in 2014, the South Derbyshire cause works incredibly hard to provide over 200 special moments each and every year for those with life-threatening and life-changing illnesses and conditions, and their families.
Ashbourne 19-year-old Randon, who has joined Westbourne Motorsport for his second season in the Michelin Clio Cup Race Series, first became associated with Me&Dee last year when he helped to provide a special day out at the racetrack for Jack Tissington, who has cerebral palsy.
Delighted to now further expand his fundraising efforts for the charity, Randon – with the backing of Greenbank Group – is to dedicate the roof space of his racing Renault Clio to the scheme, offering space to businesses in which to place their website address or Twitter ‘hashtags’ as part of an eye-catching design. Of the total revenue raised, a generous 50% will be passed directly to Me&Dee.
Additionally, for every eight charity sponsor slots which are sold Randon will also donate a family hospitality day to the Maria Hanson Foundation, a package valued at around £300 and similar to the day experienced by Jack Tissington at Snetterton last August.
“Meeting Jack and his family last year made me think”, said Randon, “I attended a charity ball during the winter with Greenbank Group and we hatched this plan. I wanted to do more than just donate tickets to a race meeting, so we are hoping businesses will get behind this campaign and help us make a real difference.”
The charity drive will be officially launched on Thursday, 26th March, at Rockingham during a pre-season test day at the Northamptonshire track – the venue for the opening three rounds of the 2015 Michelin Clio Cup Race Series on 11th/12th April.
