BARC Awards--007

2015 Double champions, team Westbourne, recently enjoyed a fabulous night out at the recent BARC awards ceremony. Michelin Clio Series Champion Luke Herbert and Junior Saloon Car Champion Ben Colburn, were presented with their awards by Pauline Hillon – (Renault UK Championship Coordinator) and Gordon Shedden – BTCC Champion, respectively. Later in the evening there was one twist still to come, when Ben Colburn was announced as the recipient of the Peter Collins Memorial Trophy awarded now for the most promising newcomer in a BARC championship.

A delighted Ben Colburn commented “It is an honour to receive such a prestigious trophy and to be recognised for my achievements in the Juinor Saloon Car championship by the BARC, joining some great names who have won it before me like Marcus Ericcson and Eddie Cheever. It was unbelievable meeting all the other champions from the various BARC championships most notably BTCC champion Gordon Shedden, who I hope to be racing against very soon !”

The event was attended by all the team drivers and families, it was such a fantastic turn out to celebrate our pair of champions.

Westbourne Motorsport will be looking to replicate the success in 2016 with a fantastic driver line up in the Michelin Clio Series (Race) a trio that includes James Dorlin, Sam Randon and Ben Colburn. While Sarah Franklin will be looking to build on last years strong performance in the Road category. In the Junior Saloon Car Championship one of last years most exciting newcomers Matteo Zanetti is joined by Finlay Robinson and rookie Adam Batty.

Team Principal Richard Colburn commented “It looks like a really exciting season ahead and I truly believe we have a strong opportunity to retain both titles. The team has put in a lot of hard work in our preparations over the winter period and we aim to come out of the blocks running for Round 1 at Oulton Park on the 19th of March.”
