Westbourne Motorsport have launched a new initiative designed to assist trainee technicians with developing their skills in a competitive motorsport environment.
The team welcomed nine young trainees to Silverstone last Friday [16th February] as they tested four of their Michelin Clio Cup Series challengers ahead of the season opener at the same venue on 24-25 March.
Each trainee was paired up with an existing senior member of the technical support team at Westbourne Motorsport and received instruction and guidance throughout the day as they serviced the 2.0 litre, third generation Clio Cup machines and the team’s newly-built, race-converted Renaultsport Clio 200 model for the championship’s Road Series category.
They will continue to work with the Worthing-based outfit across the season as the compete in the flagship Renault UK Clio Cup on the TOCA support bill and the highly-competitive Michelin Clio Cup Series, run by the British Automobile Racing Club and promoted by Westbourne.
Richard Colburn, Team Principal said “We would like to thank each of the nine trainee mechanics that attended our recent test at Silverstone. They all showed a lot of enthusiasm, one of the qualities we are always on the look out for in our staff, and each showcased the potential they all have to progress and develop careers in motorsport.
“We’re looking forward to assisting in their development and improving their skills over the course of the coming season.”
