Westbourne Motorsport continued their strong recent form in the Michelin Clio Cup Series by adding further silverware in the third meeting at Brands Hatch last weekend [12-13 May].
Pearson, who claimed his second pole position in consecutive meetings by three thousandths of a second on Saturday, duly followed it up with another podium finish after a thrilling battle with reigning champion Ben Palmer and MRM’s Tyler Lidsey, setting the fastest lap of the race in the process.
He then backed it up with another strong points finish in fourth during the final race, keeping the 16-year old at the sharp end of the championship standings.
Ben Colburn did well to bounce back from an unfortunate accident at Paddock Hill Bend in the first race to score solid points in fifth in the finale, keeping the #5 in the title fight, and Vantage Motor Group-backed racer Finlay Robinson continued to showcase his progression in the third-generation Clio Cup car with two top-six finishes at the 1.2 mile circuit.
Tony Verhulst has been the epitome of consistency thus far in 2018, with the Dutch racer adding another brace of seventh place finishes to his record in a highly-competitive field.
In the Road Series, Renault UK Clio Cup driver James Colburn stepped into unfamiliar territory to help the team develop a new-for-2018 chassis, with the Worthing-based racer following up a podium in the opener with a class victory on Sunday, whilst Sean Thomas also made a return to the rostrum as he continues to bounce back from a difficult opening event and throw himself back into the title chase.
Darren Geeraerts has enjoyed podium success already this year too, and furthered his points total in Kent with two top-sixes to keep himself in the hunt too.
The championship heads next to Thruxton in Hampshire over the weekend of 06-07 July.
