Shenstone’s Ant Whorton-Eales, has been chosen as one of 12 finalists of the KXAkademy scheme, led by double British Touring Car champion Jason Plato.
Whorton-Eales, 18, has had a fantastic last 12 months, winning the Mini Challenge Club Class, being awarded the BRDC Rising Star and being on the podium overall in this season’s Renault Clio Cup. This comes on the back of winning the SaxMax championship in 2010.
Whorton-Eales underwent an interview with the KX Akademy team at Silverstone yesterday (Thursday). The KX Akademy, has been formed in the hope of giving talented young drivers that extra push they need through funding and tuition, to be able to reach their full potential.
The SSFT, One-Lux and Westbourne Motors sponsored driver was delighted to have this chance, ” I would like to thank KX Akademy for considering me for this opportunity and I am delighted to have made the final. It is not every day you get Jason Plato ringing you to offer you a chance like this. I have had an amazing year and this is proof that it hasn’t gone unnoticed “
The six winners of the 2013 KX Akademy, will be announced at January’s AutosportInternational Show at the NEC Arena, Birmingham. Ant Whorton-Eales will be hoping that the start of 2013, will be a continuation of what has been an ever expanding and impressive journey in British motorsport.
